NATURAL LIGHT AND COLOR TEMPERATURE

The best type of lighting is natural light. There are studies (see bibliography, below) where employees who were exposed to natural light in the office reported an improvement of more than 80 percent in eye fatigue, headaches and blurred vision, exposure to natural light helps regulate hormones and keep the circadian rhythm in check, helping people sleep soundly at night and work productively the next day.

When designing buildings, try to maximise the entry of direct sunlight, if possible. Windowed areas are generally designated for common areas rather than private offices, and many people as possible can have access to natural light. If your office does not have windows, consider skylight design, if possible.

According to almost all the studies done, a good source of natural light in the office will increase productivity, reduce fatigue and lead to better sleep patterns. Sunlight triggers the release of serotonin.
